Editorial standards

Adult Gamer reports news from the UK and around the world. These standards explain how our reports are produced and what readers can expect from us.

Sources

Our reporting is based on information from established news organisations and from public bodies, including governments, regulators, police forces, the emergency services, the NHS and the courts. Every report names the organisations its information comes from.

Verification

Before a story is published, the names, figures, dates and quotations in it are checked against its sources. Quotations are reproduced exactly as they were given and are always attributed. Where a fact has not been confirmed, we say so.

Fairness and the law

We report allegations as allegations and name the person or body making them. When a case is before the courts we report it fairly and accurately and comply with contempt of court law and reporting restrictions. We do not identify victims of sexual offences or children involved in legal proceedings.

Impartiality

News reports are kept free of opinion. We do not take political sides, and we give people and organisations criticised in a report the chance to respond where appropriate.

Images

Every picture we publish is used under a recorded licence and credited. Illustrative stock photographs are labelled as such and are never presented as pictures of the event being reported.

News and advertising

Advertising, sponsored articles and partner content are kept separate from our journalism and are identified to readers in line with advertising rules. Advertisers have no influence over our news coverage.

Corrections

We correct significant errors promptly. See our corrections policy, or email [email protected].
