Corrections

We aim to be accurate in everything we publish. When we get something wrong, we put it right quickly and openly.

How to report an error

Email [email protected] with the link to the article, the statement you believe is wrong and, if possible, a source that shows the correct information. You do not need to be named in the article to report an error.

What happens next

  • We acknowledge correction requests and review every one, normally within two working days.
  • If a significant factual error is confirmed, we amend the article and add a correction note at the end stating what was changed and when.
  • Minor changes that do not alter the meaning of a report, such as spelling or formatting, may be made without a note.
  • Where a report is disputed but not shown to be wrong, we may add a clarification or the other party’s response.

Removal requests

We do not remove accurate news reports on request. We will consider updating or anonymising older reports in exceptional circumstances, for example where a person’s safety is at risk or a conviction is spent. Contact [email protected] with your reasons.

Complaints

If you are not satisfied with our response, reply to our email and your complaint will be reviewed by a senior editor.
